New Video: Hold Smith Accountable

Gordon Smith will say anything to win re-election.

He’s proven he can’t be trusted on the Iraq War.

It’s time to hold him accountable.

Here’s how:

-Forward this video on to five people you know who oppose the Iraq War and support accountability in government.

-Attend one of our protests of Gordon Smith on Wednesday, Dec. 5 in Bend, Eugene, Medford, Pendleton or Portland.

The video and protests come one year after Smith's speech from the floor of the U.S. Senate that he opposed the Iraq War, and only days after we learned 3,500 more Oregonians will head out to Iraq. Smith has continued voting to keep troops in Iraq and prolong the war and has proven he will say anything to win re-election. Hold Smith accountable on Wednesday.

Hint: Be sure to watch to end of video to find out how you can help.

Um, great message, but I don't think we'll be able to bore voters into supporting a challenger. Isn't there something more upbeat, or even just less dull that we could be using?

I think both the Merkley and Novick campaigns have come up with much better videos than this, and I encourage people to czech those videos out on their respective websites. As for the DPO and StopGordonSmith, I commend the work being done and the effort put into these ads, but I don't think they're going to be very effective with NAVs. It's very informative, but not eye-catching or entertaining at all. Try something just as informative, but with a catchy score or some more clever narration.

It's ridiculous what things Smith will say just to win re-election. Many people now know about Smith's flip-flops and election year pandering, but we can't let Oregonians forget about his real record in the Senate.

Gordon Smith is the Joe Lieberman of Oregon. He just goes out and says what the administration tells him to say about the big issues. I'm almost positive he's remotely controlled.

Remember his statement that the war is possibly being waged in a criminal manner? Did Smith ever, you know, follow up on his statement (a statement which provoked no indignant response from right wingers, btw)? I'm pretty sure Smith could indeed find some criminality there if he actually wanted to. Maybe he could recover some of the missing billions that have been wasted? Maybe he could shock & amaze America and filibuster future appropriation bills for the war? That would demonstrate actual courage, at least.

I've pretty much had it with him though. I'll vote for anyone but Smith. He's useless.
